David Johnson - Co-Founder
Why form Print Study for All?
In developing PSFA, co-founder David Johnson identifies a chronic issue in photo education that he has experienced firsthand: access to prints. Teaching at a southeastern institution that is located far from an urban center, Johnson could not rely on familiar amenities - print study rooms or special collections at regional museums or libraries - to engage students in studying the material, technical, and conceptual choices that manifest in photographic prints. While books, websites, and social media platforms are excellent tools for teaching and sharing work with students, physically interacting with photographic prints fosters a deeper understanding of the creative process and its possible outcomes.
